Wine & Produce Passport Weekend

August 12, 2017 - August 13, 2017

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00am on of [month], repeating indefinitely

Enjoy the whole day; Saturday and/or Sunday, driving from farm to farm or winery along scenic Hwy 160, experiencing what the rural delta life is like. Just minutes from Sacramento and Elk Grove, the Delta region is highly valued for its pears, cherries, wine grapes, corn, alfalfa, asparagus, and vegetables.

The delta’s rich soil is ideal for growing plants rather than livestock. Many Delta farms are generational family commercial operations that grow a few specialty crops. Some of these commercial operations, along with the smaller, more diverse farms have opened their farms for public educational visits and direct sales. Visitors have the opportunity to join farm tours, taste local wines, see farm equipment displays, and enjoy a wide variety of fresh, local produce (pears, tomatoes, melons, squash, stone fruits, sweet corn, zucchini, and beans).

Several of our farms grow and sell organic produce and free range eggs. Be sure to check out the farm/winery event descriptions to select your stopping points along the route you would like to visit. Talk with the Delta farmers and see what they have to offer.
